Speaker Choices
The system can be configured with any Orb speaker system and any receiver we sell.  We recommend the People's Choice system for medium rooms and the Mod2 system for large rooms.  You can customize your speaker package by using the drop-down menus above to select 5, 6 or 7 speakers and to select between Mod1 and Mod2 speakers. 

We recommend Mod2 speakers for your front speakers if you have a medium or large room or if you will be using the system for both music and movies.  Choose Mod2 for your rear speakers if you have a larger room, prefer to listen at loud volumes or simply want the ultimate home theater experience.  Add a 7th surround channel if you have a large room, will be placing the rear speakers very high or far away from the listening position, or if you will be using the system for Blu-Ray discs (which have 7.1 encoding).  If you have any questions about home theater speaker placement, check out this link give us a call at 877-ORB-AUDIO, or send us an email at support@orbaudio.com.

2013 Denon Receivers
The HT Express can be configured with your choice of award-winning receivers from Denon, from the entry level AVR-E300 to the top of the line AVR-X4000.  All feature great Denon sound quality and construction, and a variety of features to meet a wide range of needs.

The AVR-E200 features 75 watts per channel, with support for up to 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer.  It is an excellent basic receiver.  It has 3 HDMI inputs on the rear and 1 on the front. 

The AVR-E300 is also a 5 channel receiver, but it has many upgraded features vs. the E200.  This is our most popular receiver and we highly recommend it for people with basic needs.  The E300 upgrade delivers Apple Airplay, computer networking, an easy to use Setup Assistant and an additional HDMI input (4 rear HDMI inputs and 1 front).  It also can deliver a little more peak power than the E200.

The AVR-E400 is a fantastic upgraded receiver that features 90 watts channel and can power 7 speakers and 1 subwoofer.  This is a great higher performance receiver and has many upgrades that make it more "future proof."  The E400 supports 2 zones of audio and can play different sources in each zone.  It also has six HDMI inputs, so you won't have to be worried about running out of connections.   The E400 also has video upscaling to 1080p and the newest standard, 4K video. Basically, this receiver would have been over $1,000 two years ago and we highly recommend this receiver if you have typical home user needs.

The AVR-X2000 is similar to the AVR-E400, with additional features such as upgraded surround channel amplifiers and analog/digital microprocessors.  This receiver is also in the Denon IN-COMMAND series and is optimized for custom integration/home automation.  It has 12v trigger outputs, RS-232 interface for 3rd party remotes and other accessories, and 2nd zone pre-amp outputs.  We recommend this receiver if you will be using these custom controls or if you will be setting up a 6 or 7 speaker system and want upgraded amplifiers for these surround channels.  If you will not be using either of these feature sets, we recommend that you go up or down one model in the product line.

The AVR-X3000 is a great receiver.  It features more power than the X2000 (105 watts per channel) as well as many more inputs and outputs.  It also has support for dual subwoofers and advanced multi-zone features.  We recommend this receiver if you want more power, have a lot of things to connect, or would like to use two subwoofers or two separate audio zones. 

The AVR-X4000 is a top of the line reciever and dishes out intense home theater performance.  It features 7 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs, so you can send signal to 2 screens.  It also has 3 zones of separately controllable audio and 2 zones of HDMI video.  Like it's sibilings, you will find Apple AirPlay and a great Denon Remote App to use with your iPhone, iPad or iPod.  Often, our customers save enough in speaker markups to more than pay for this upgrade.  We recommend this receiver if it is in your budget and you want top of the line audio and video performance.

Subwoofers

The Super Eight is acoustically matched to our Mod1 and Mod2 satellites and is included in all of our speaker systems.  It is the right subwoofer for almost all of our customers, the perfect combination of performance, size and price.  In fact, the Super Eight offers the highest possible performance out of a 12 inch cube and has received many rave reviews.  It features a high quality 200 watt BASH hybrid amplifier that is conservatively rated to peak at over 400 watts, a super long-throw 8" woofer and a high-power magnet.  The Super Eight provides output that is on par with most high quality subwoofers that have much larger cabinets and drivers, and it retains the musicality and tightness that is essential to success (yet lacking in many other systems). 

The Uber Ten is our answer to your requests over the last few years for a "cost is no object" design.  Of course, cost is always important, and we did not ignore it.   However, our primary design criteria was high performance, and the Uber Ten will blow your socks off.  It features a 300W BASH hybrid amplifier, a proprietary high-excursion 10" driver and it packs all of the punch of much bigger subwoofers.  We made the cabinet 1 1/2 inches larger (12" on the Super Eight v. 13.5" on the Uber Ten) for maximum performance while still preserving the compact nature of all Orb products.  Anyone can make a deep, high power subwoofer that is great at explosions and not much else, but that just didn't cut it for us.  We weren't looking for a sub that was just louder and deeper, we also wanted it to retain the musicality, snappiness and accuracy that made the Super Eight famous.  To accomplish this, you basically need world class, audiophile components, and we designed every piece of the Uber Ten in this manner.

To be clear, though, the Super Eight is the right subwoofer for at least 90% of our customers.  The Uber Ten is purely for those that have the extra budget and desire for bass beyond what is considered normal to most people.  If you have an especially large room, or just prefer your bass to be as deep as possible and don't mind the extra 1.5" of cabinet space, consider the Uber Ten.  Otherwise, put it out of your mind and go with our first love, the Super Eight.

All home theater systems ship with free attractive matching steel desk stands.   Our HOSS floor stands are a great addition to our speaker systems, ultimately stylish and handcrafted in the United States from polished steel.  Our BOSS table stands are similarly stunning, the perfect stainless steel companion to your speakers.  Additionally, we have a variety of wall and ceiling mounts to attach our speakers in almost any situation.  All speakers that are not being wall mounted or placed on BOSS or HOSS stands will receive a free basic steel desk stand.
