SPECIFIC DESCRIPTIONS:

Grill Dent: Some minor dents / depressions on the grill

Scuffed: Imperfection in the finish / clear coat. Slight scuff marks / scratches.

Drip Marks: Only on Copper / Bronze. Some runs / drip marks in clear coat.

Tendrils: Only on Polished Steel. Oxidation lines / rust tendrils under clear coat. Usually on back of speaker.

Gap: Driver trim ring imperfect fit on ball. Front view OK, only noticeable from side or back view.

Rough: Finish is not perfectly smooth - impossible to see from more than a few feet away.

My experience with the orb team was excellent. Responsive and dedicated to their craft. These little speakers are awesome paired with a subwoofer. I had an 8in and recently upgraded to a 12in and the system now goes boom! Really hard. Would recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing.

Okay - I have (over)written this review in my head many times. Too many words and too many comparisons have stopped me from posting before now. I was going to call this review: "Three types of boxless speakers", and then I was going to give long prose and praise to planar speakers and speakers with brilliant cone configurations and then give praise on to these Orb Modules. Let's just leave it that these $300/pair Orb speakers used in a computer/near field set-up appear to have an infinite baffle sound similar to speakers I use in my living room and my office with price tags of $2,000-$5,000 per pair. Not identical, mind you, but similarly pleasant and "boxless" to these two other speaker designs. I had a perfectly fine computer set up of speakers but after buying and owning and being pleased with an Orb amplifier and Subwoofer I decided that I had to give the modules a try, and so I bought a couple of the "dented grill" ones in black. I'm not going to return them and I love them and will eventually use 13 to 14 of them to replace all of my bookshelf speakers in my home theater designed by Henry Kloss (before their 35 year old magnets wear out) - I can't think of a better compliment for bookshelf speakers, other than that these, as I said, are mostly transparent. Yes - I have tried them in various configurations within my house before I would make such a sweeping statement about their equality to the best Kloss satellite speakers (which I still own), and I have verified that their 120 hz low end point works well with many a good subwoofer in my possession. These Orb modules are well rounded, pardon the pun, speakers which become invisible to the ear and to the eye. As a last compliment I will point out that my wife lets me own 6' tall speakers sticking 3' out in our living room. She gifted me with a pair of 3+' tall speakers for my office that were similar in price. She states that she is not a "golden ear" and yet she acknowledges that she loves the sound of those two systems and now, also, the sound of the Orb system. Happy wife's eyes and ears as well as my happy ears for years? "Sounds Good to me!"

I bought a pair in 2014 and I really like the size especially. They were paired with two Boston Acoustics 4-1/2" +3/4" tweeter indoor /outdoor speaker of about the same price and sounded better to my ears. One BA blew up so I replaced it with an Orb then one of the Orb's blew up. I should have prefaced this by saying I'm a 69 year old drummer using a Roland TD-9 set that was in bad shape when I received it and spent the last year repairing and upgrading it. I have a 2000 watt peak 12" drum amplifier and run spotify through the 5.1 surround system . I guess the volume is just a bit too high for these speakers. Being a disabled. senior coming from acoustic drums I'm still learning how to balance all of this. Picked up two Klipsch R41m's because I'm so poor and they have helped keep me from blowing up anymore. I do really like these Orb's and have recommended them to other's who also purchased and enjoy them. Hope to be able to add more in the future Aloha all.
